A Michael Myers kind of frog

Everybody knows how easy it is to start something and how difficult it is to finish it.

I’d say that even more difficult than finishing it, is to maintain it they way you want.

This is something I’ve recently realized through the Time Challenge… I’m not good at maintaining certain things. It usually goes like this: I do something and I like to do it well, and when I finish it, I cross it from my to-do list and forget all about it, after all it’s all done and over with :)

Time passes and now I’m totally focused on something else right? I’m working on finishing the next task when suddenly, I look around and there is the frog I just finished eating, very much alive, staring at me as if I had never even touched it!

And that is a big problem when it comes to proper time management, finishing something but not keeping it that way.

It’s just like cleaning your house. You can take a whole day to clean it from top to bottom, to organize everything and leave it the way you like, but then if you don’t keep it organized, next week when you separate a day to clean it again, it will take you the same amount of time to finish it, or even more.

That’s the cycle may people have fallen into. They never have time for other things, they never seem to have spare time for anything new or even to do the most important things they have to, because their current responsibilities and the things they are used to doing takes up all of their time.

Solution? Maintenance. Do something, finish it and work to maintain it that way. If it is cleaning your room, clean it and keep it that way until you have to clean it again. If it is your clothes, wash it, iron it and put them away and keep it organized until you have to do it again. Same with your house, same with everything you start and finish.

This is what I will be working on throughout this month. If you are my partner in the Time Challenge or would like to be, you should as well ;) I will be coming here at the end of each week to tell you (in the comments section) how my “maintenance” is going and I would love, love to hear from you as well.

Remember: A frog when eaten has got to remain dead; otherwise it’s like having a “Michael Myers” kind of frog in your life. No matter how many times you kill it, when you turn around, it is still coming for you O_o

  8. Mrs. Raphaela: I have not yet determined which of my frogs will receive the first death strike, I want to have a complete assessment for tomorrow. But I wanted to tell you how surprised I was when I received your e-mail telling me that I had been accepted... It was a wonderful surprise!
So, I really thank you, and I will do my best not to waste the opportunity.

  12. This week I had to look for my driver license to my surprise that I wasn't able to find it. There were many things in my bag that were there that I didn't recall they were there. This is what I will work on make sure that I know what I have in my bag and carry only the necessary. :) hehehe

  13. This past few weeks since the challenge started, I had to always make a time to comment blogs and participate in our group (Godllywood). And it's always been hard for me to do it because though I always find time to access the internet at work but it has to be all about work that I must do there! So, it's really my annoying frog...

  16. Dear Mrs. Raphaela:
    1. I have chosen a notepad and a big "home-made" calendar.
    2. First lists done.
    3. The lists were finally reduced to two types of lists, and one of them has two sub-types. I find it easier to keep track of them.
    4. I wrote everything I could think of, in the time I could spare - half an hour :(
    5 and 6 - Done.
    7 - Here I am, writing to you :-)

Well, this week was a busy one, but thinking about being more organised (although not specifically thinking about the tasks), I designed a big calendar to help me put some order into my on-the-job duties. It is working, so far.

I didn't receive these week tasks, Mrs Raphaela... I wanted to let you know, just in case. :)

    Have a good evening!

  17. Dear Mrs. Raphaela,
I am excited for the Time Challenge. The method I chose was a notebook. I brought it today and it is very cute. Lol. Just like you wrote; I clean my room, organize it, but then it's messy again and that is something I need to work on. In the 3 parts of my list, I have 10 things written down altogether and I will definitely be crossing those those things off my list once done, and be adding more.

I just had a question on how will it work, do we have a certain amount of time to complete what we wrote down and just like Mrs. Maura, I did not receive this week's task (If it was sent out)

Good night Mrs. Raphaela and God bless.
    Kisses

  18. Querida Mrs.Rapha!
