Have you ever heard the song 'Because of you' by Kelly Clarkson?
It has a nice beat to it and at first you don't really understand the message of the song. I watched the video clip and it shows a little girl helplessly watching her parents argue, after that her dad leaves the house and it seems that he never comes back. She grows up without her dad and now, as a young woman with a child herself, she says that because of her mother, her life was never what it was supposed to be. That because she let her dad leave, she was unhappy, miserable and afraid to live her life.
I think it must be really hard to grow up without one of your parents, it must leave a scar that never seems to heal. I understand that people might have done things to you that hurt you in an indescribable way, I understand that some things are almost impossible to forget. I just don't understand the blaming part...
Perhaps people and situations have given you reasons to be and feel the way you do today, but how can blaming them change anything now? Using them as an excuse not to leave the past behind doesn't make your present (or future) any better, does it?
It's quite convenient to say 'I am who I am because you did this to me or didn't give me this or that', because by thinking this way, you have a reason not to change, not to have to fight for a different life or to be a different person.
Sure you have your reasons and they might be very good but the point is, blaming others will never change your life.
Whatever might or might not have happened in the past is already gone, so if because of other people's choices you never had a proper family, decide that you are going to have your own and that your children will not have the same fate. If people were mean to you, decide you will never treat people that way, if they hurt you, decide that you will rise above that.
Don't let what happened in the past or what was done to you in the past dictate who you are and what you have today. Others might have been responsible for the bad things, but you are the only one who can make them better.
