David - A man of Passion and Destiny

I have to confess that I first started reading this book 5 years ago. I probably read the first 3 chapters but never really got to finish it. Don’t remember why.
And then, last year there I was again. I went halfway through and then started reading something else. This is a very strange behavior for me because I always, ALWAYS finish the books I start reading, even if it’s just to tell others how bad it is, that they shouldn’t bother reading it.
So, after a few months and many other books in between, I’ve finally finished reading David and here’s what I have to say about it:
I LOVED this book! I loved it because I always liked the story of David in the Bible. There’s something about David that really captivates me. I guess it’s the fact that he was an ordinary man, with faults and mistakes but because of his sincerity before God, he could be used for something extraordinary. It gives us a little bit of background on David’s life and journey from a simple shepherd to a great king. It makes you understand how things unfolded in his life.
However, there are two things in this book that I really don’t agree with.
One is the idea that no matter what you do, you never lose your salvation. Once saved, once a person has the Holy Spirit, he can never lose Him. That’s not true. You have Him for as long as you are with Him; leave Him and you will be also leaving everything He has for you, including salvation. Including His Spirit.
The other is the idea that some things God will simply NOT give you. No reason, no explanation, He just doesn’t want to. What?!
Let’s say you want a family some day and you use your faith to achieve that. Perhaps you may find out that God doesn’t want that for you and you will die a single maid and that is just because. There will be no reason for it except the fact that sometimes God says no.
I don’t agree with this idea, certainly there might be some things God will not do because they ARE NOT good for you, but He’s not in the business of refraining from answering your prayers ‘just because’. Read the Bible and the promises He has for you and you will see that this idea doesn’t make sense.
Everything else in this book is really good and really teaches a lot of things about faith, humbleness, sincerity, struggles and success, but those two things… I just could not swallow.
There are many things I’d like to say about this book, but if I did, this post would be way too long. So, if you want to know what was the best part for me, just go to the comments section below :)

One of my major Flaws...

If you don't know me personally, you might have an idea about the way I am based on what you see in my blog:

* I like movies lol

* I like to talk to others about movies

* I like to read

* I smile a lot

* I think sincerity is a very important trait to have

* I'm part of the YPG

* I like to be in contact with my 'followers' here on the blog

And other things you might have noticed.

However there's something about me that I have never talked about with you but that can also be noticed here on my blog.

This is one of the things I hate the most about me. Are you ready for this?

One of my major flaws is THE INABILITY TO DO MANY THINGS AT THE SAME TIME. In other words, to manage my time well.

I have read a few books on the subject, I have learned from people who truly know how to do this, and believe me, I HAVE TRIED many, many times. But then last week I realized that it's not that I don't know how to manage my time well so much as it is that I'm not disciplined enough. So, I have made a decision!

I'm going to be putting in practice everything that I've learned about time management, I will challenge myself to CHANGE once and for all and I'll be posting here (every Monday) about my progress and what I learn along the way.

So, since I know for a fact that I'm not the only human being with that problem, I'd like to challenge someone else.

I'm looking for a partner, someone who struggles a lot with time management and who undoubtedly suffers with the consequences of it. The reason I'm doing this is because it's easier to change something about ourselves when we have to be accountable to someone, plus the fact that the other person becomes an extra motivation.

If you are interested in joining me in this challenge, please send me a message here. I'll be sending you personal messages and tips and that way we will be able to monitor each other's progress. Please bear in mind that in order for you to be my partner in this, you need to be a follower of my blog lol. So please, go to the right-hand side of this blog where it says 'Friends' and click on 'Follow'.

My 'Time Challenge' starts today and continues until... I change :)

P.S.: Have you been trying to change something about yourself but is not able to? Go public! Tell someone, ask for help. When all else fails... go public.

P.S. 2: To register to become my partner, please follow this link: Registration Form.

Immortals

I hope you have been enjoying all the movie reviews I post here :)
I really enjoy talking about the movies I watch and one other thing I like to do is reading. I really like the written word, sometimes more than watching movies and so I wanted to let you know that I will very soon be posting about the books I read.
Now back to this week’s movie review.
What can I say about Immortals?
Maybe the best thing I could say is, DON’T WATCH IT! The best way to describe the whole movie is CONFUSING.
When you see the trailer, you see the guy finding a bow, right? And then you think, ‘this guy was chosen and now he has found a source of power’. But you are wrong if you though that… He only uses the bow once in the whole entire movie, so it’s not about the power of the bow.
Another impression you might have upon watching the trailer is that amidst all the fight, the guy finds the love of his life… nope. He has a night’s stand with the girl but he doesn’t love her (which is very unusual nowadays right?) and the girl does not love him (again, very unusual nowadays for people to sleep with each other and not have any feelings for them, isn’t that true?).
Then you think it’s about divine powers… no.
About the guy making any kind of difference in the world perhaps? Not really.
About overcoming your battles? Umm… I don’t think so.
So, what is this movie about? Who knows!! I certainly don’t!
It’s one different story after the other. One time the guy he is fighting, another he hates the other guy, then he has his ‘time’ with he girl, then he is commanding an army… The stories have neither beginnings nor ends. It’s quite tiresome, I must say, even for people like me who like the 300 kind of movie.
There is a lot of blood everywhere, heads been smashed every five minutes, people being cooked to their deaths inside a silver bull (yeah, I know)… Let’s just say that this movie is REALLY R rated.
Do not recommend it at all.
