Inception

You can't really say that you are into movies if you haven't watched or doesn't want to watch Inception!

When I went to the theaters last July, I was expecting a very intelligent plot, the kind that forces you to think and figure out what's going on in the movie, but Inception does more than that to your brain...

Here is the thing, if you look away from the screen for five seconds, there's a great chance that you will miss some important information about the story and might not understand anything. So my advice is keep your eyes glued to the screen, your ears attentive and your brain sharp.

This movie has everything, good cast, brilliant plot, lots of action, intriguing scenes and to top it all off, it has a message.

But I'd like to hear from you! If you have already watched it, please share your views in the comments below. What did you understand? What did you think of the movie? Did you like it? What message did you get from it?

If you haven't watched it yet, now is your chance, Inception is out on DVD and is sure to blow your mind away!

Because of you

Have you ever heard the song 'Because of you' by Kelly Clarkson?

It has a nice beat to it and at first you don't really understand the message of the song. I watched the video clip and it shows a little girl helplessly watching her parents argue, after that her dad leaves the house and it seems that he never comes back. She grows up without her dad and now, as a young woman with a child herself, she says that because of her mother, her life was never what it was supposed to be. That because she let her dad leave, she was unhappy, miserable and afraid to live her life.

I think it must be really hard to grow up without one of your parents, it must leave a scar that never seems to heal. I understand that people might have done things to you that hurt you in an indescribable way, I understand that some things are almost impossible to forget. I just don't understand the blaming part...

Perhaps people and situations have given you reasons to be and feel the way you do today, but how can blaming them change anything now? Using them as an excuse not to leave the past behind doesn't make your present (or future) any better, does it?

It's quite convenient to say 'I am who I am because you did this to me or didn't give me this or that', because by thinking this way, you have a reason not to change, not to have to fight for a different life or to be a different person.

Sure you have your reasons and they might be very good but the point is, blaming others will never change your life.

Whatever might or might not have happened in the past is already gone, so if because of other people's choices you never had a proper family, decide that you are going to have your own and that your children will not have the same fate. If people were mean to you, decide you will never treat people that way, if they hurt you, decide that you will rise above that.

Don't let what happened in the past or what was done to you in the past dictate who you are and what you have today. Others might have been responsible for the bad things, but you are the only one who can make them better.

The Love of my life

It's far easier to look at all the bad things that have happened in our lives. All the words you've heard that hurt you so deeply, the affection you didn't get, the appreciation you never received and all the bad stuff that is engraved in the way you react to people and situations.

It's easier to look at everything you have lost and the opportunities you have missed and the mistakes you have made.

It's just easier to look back and see the good things you had in life and not really be happy about them, but instead, simply focus on the fact that you no longer have them.

But to dwell on the good things... that's not so easy.

So today, just now, I was thinking about how blessed my life has been, despite all the bad stuff. How far I am from what I once was, how much I have learned and how much I have grown and how many opportunities I have had. I have experienced things far greater than I have ever imagined or dreamed of.

I have had great moments in my life and have met some incredible people.

So, by thinking about these blessings, I tried to pinpoint the people responsible for them. I thought 'Surely my husband is one of them, after all he is a dream come true, literally'.

But then I thought about the friends I have and was certain that they are one of the main reasons I am blessed.

And then I thought about the life I've led and the sacrifices I have made and thought I had finally found what had caused me to be blessed.

But then my mind wandered to a place and a time when none of these things existed yet, no husband, no friends, no direction in life. Just loneliness, hopelessness, emptiness...

And so it was clear to me that God was the one who provided all these possibilities, He was the one who caused me to meet the amazing people I have met and gave me the opportunities I have had.

He knew exactly what I needed and gave me much, much more than what I expected.

He became the most important person for me, more important than anything I have... He is the love of my life!

Have you ever experienced unconditional love? The kind of love that doesn't diminish at the sight of your flaws, the one that doesn't end when you make mistakes?

That's the kind of love God has for you, all you need to do is to let Him in...

Want to know how? Just ask me here.

The Chronicles of Narnia - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

I've been wanting to watch this movie since it came out but only last week I finally had the opportunity.

I loved this movie, it's surely on the top 5 movies I watched in 2010! I couldn't stop thinking about it afterwards. I could say that The Chronicles of Narnia are like hidden treasures, if you don't really pay attention, you end up missing the great value it has. I had also watched the first two Narnia movies, but this was the one that inspired me the most.

I could write a long post here about the many lessons I learned with this movie, but if I do I will probably end up telling the whole story, so I'll just say what caught my attention the most. Here we go:

* You were brought to this world for a purpose, it was no coincidence nor an accident. The places you go to and the things you go through can help you fulfill that purpose.

* All of us have a mission in life, but most don't accomplish it, they get distracted by other things and fall into the many temptations the world offers.

* You belong somewhere better than where you are now, but whether you will get there or not, depends on the choices you make.

* There are times in life when you have to be ready to make tough decisions, just like Edmund, Lucy and Caspian had to.

So you see, this is the kind of movie you should want to see, because it doesn't only entertain you, it teaches you something you can use in your life. If you haven't seen it yet, postpone all the other movies you were planning to see. Go watch Narnia and get ready to be inspired!
